Yeah, I agree completely that there are lots of specific issues with our implementation & tuning. What I think I was playing around with in my head is the basic conflict between the fact that people want to be comfortable / powerful and that the specific lack of comfort / power can be very interesting for gameplay and atmosphere reasons. It's a fascinating dilemma and one that has very different ramifications in different arenas (in AOM for example we always make sure to phrase choices positively rather than negatively).
I'm quite looking forward to seeing how Bioshock develops... there are just very few people doing immersive world games anymore (as opposed to "merely" being first-person).
