Argh. My component cables arrive from Nintendo finally, and I get ready to move my Wii onto my real gaming setup, only to note that suspiciously, the power button isn't turning it off anymore. Hm, when I was having some Zelda lockups it had the same symptom. Cycle the power via unplugging it, and now I get no signal on bootup. Not good. After a little more experimentation the "hard" power off (holding it in for 10 seconds) and the eject button / drive mechanism still work, but that appears to be it.
My first genuine launch console failure! My launch Xbox 360 is still kicking despite massive, massive (almost 24/7) use, and my launch Xbox 1 and launch PS2 both lasted a good 4+ years. Well, time to explore the dark heart of Nintendo's console replacement policy... Really, though it could be worse. Zelda's the only game I'll miss and I honestly can go buy the Gamecube version if it's going to be months.
Now, if my 360 broke, it would be a different matter. I'd probably have to buy a second one because I'm not sure I could go a month without it, gaming wise...
