...was really awesome.  In the literal sense of inspiring awe.  8000 people!  More details later but I had to share the fact that I'm (quite incidentally) on the Blizzard website from the 'con...

(from the top left photo on this page...)

That's me in the foreground on the left side of the image, wearing the slate AOM: Titans t-shirt and with the horrendous redeye.  I'm sitting next to Paul Bettner, a good friend and fellow Ensemble programmer who was made fun of all day today for being caught yawning in that picture.

As if Blizzcon weren't distraction enough, I've been cheating my sleep to the max... City of Villains is a lot of fun.  I'm playing as "Whipvine" on the Virtue server and enjoying it a great deal.   Drop me a line if you're playing.

The big timesink, though, has been Civilization 4.  I intend to write up more on it, but the short review is that it is easily the best Civilization game in the series (something that could not be said about Civilization 3 when it came out, IMO).  Be warned that it does have some problems with ATI cards that can require some troubleshooting and a little standalone app that Firaxis quickly put out once they became aware of the problem.  Two highly recommended hardcore civ sites:

Civ Fanatics

Apolyton

Lots of good stuff there.  I'm trying my hand at a "SG" or Succession Game at Civ Fanatics, where people take turns running a single player game of civ using forum posts as a communication medium.  Fascinating way to adapt something into multiplayer in a way completely outside of the technical design of the game itself...

Also somewhere in all that, I managed to finish Sly Cooper 3... also a great game though it ends on a bit of an odd note that I wasn't quite expecting but hopefully is foreshadowing some more Sly Cooper style games in the future.
